William, known as 'Bill' to his family and friends, sadly passed away on 5th May 2011 just a few days before his 89th birthday. Bill joined the RAF during the second world war as a rear gunner on Lancasters. He was also a civilian engineer in the Australian navy for many years until he lost his eye sight and had to retire aged 55. Bill was a wonderful man, loved and respected by everyone who knew him and he will be greatly missed by us all.
